FINA 772/472 Portfolio performance is measured against four equity indices:

  • SPY: S&P 500 ETF

  • IWV: Russell 3000 ETF

  • ACWV: MSCI Minimum Volatility Global ETF

  • SPLV: PowerShares S&P 500 Low Volatility ETF

$1 invested in the FINA 772/472 Portfolio at the beginning of 2013 would have grown to $1.83 at 4/30/17, more than it would have by investing in any of the four benchmark indices.

SMIF Returns, Risk & Ratios versus Benchmarks

Since inception, the FINA 772/472 Portfolio has yielded an average monthly return of 1.23%, beating all four benchmarks. On an annualized basis, that is a 15.74% annual return on the Portfolio. Out of the four benchmarks, SPY comes the closest to matching the FINA 772/472 return with an annual return of 15.18%. The FINA 772/472 Portfolio has outperformed the S&P 500 in 11 of the last 17 quarters (through 4/30/17), with a lower Beta (0.80).

FINA 772/472 also exhibits a lower annualized standard deviation (9.27%) relative to three of the benchmarks. The only benchmark with a lower standard deviation is ACWV, which produces a far smaller return than the other four portfolios. Thus, the FINA 772/472 Portfolio has the highest sharpe ratio (1.7).
